Elementary School Aerospace Activities: A Resource for Teachers.
Kopp, O. W.; And Others
This publication is designed for use by elementary school teachers when introducing aerospace developments into classroom programs. Its materials, prepared at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, are grouped into ten sections: (1) earth characteristics that affect flight; (2) flight in the atmosphere; (3) rockets; (4) technological advances; (5) unmanned earth satellites; (6) unmanned exploration of the solar system; (7) life-support systems; (8) astronauts; (9) man in space; and (10) projections. Each section includes an outline followed by activities suggested to correlate with the outline. Each activity is geared for the appropriate age level, 5-7, 8-9, 10-11. Suggestions for research topics are listed. The metric system of measurement is used throughout. A bibliography of selected printed materials is included at the end of each section. A complete list of these printed and audiovisual materials is placed at the end of the handbook. In addition to this bibliography, a teacher resource list is presented. Addresses of publishers, producers, and distributers, and a glossary of some aerospace terms are also included at the end of the publication. (Author/HM)
