Anticipation some years ago of the need to provide a comprehensive body of knowledge in applied gerontology for training purposes led to the development of the series "Working with Older People: A Guide to Practice." This volume, the third in the series, deals with the many facets of social welfare as these relate to the health status of the elderly, including sections on such problems as: food, clothing, and shelter; environmental safety; mobility; leisure activities; legal protection; security and supportive services; and religion and attitudes toward death.
