This handbook is an inservice training manual and reference source for elementary school teachers who do not have a strong background in nutrition. It is also a curriculum guide with a suggested course of study for integrating nutrition education in grades kindergarten through six with other areas of study such as English, mathematics, and social studies. It is divided into three parts. Part one presents background information on nutrition for teachers and serves as a review for school nurses and health educators. Part two is a guide for a sequential nutrition education program as an integral element in all disciplines of the curriculum. Part three offers teaching aids and resource materials for nutrition education. (JD)
