Curriculum Procedures Manual.
Arizona State Board of Directors for Junior Colleges, Phoenix.
The manual was prepared to assist the Curriculum Committee, the Arizona State Board of Directors for Community Colleges, and local college districts in better understanding processing procedures relative to application for approval of new vocational courses, vocational course modifications, new curriculum, programs in cooperative education, and out-of-county course offerings. Approval procedures, standards and guidelines, submission of appropriate forms, State Board Rules and Regulations, and student summer enrollment are explored. Additional information of professions not eligible for vocational funding, State Board philosophy, criteria for credit and noncredit courses, schedule for reporting Full-Time Student Equivalents, and variable credit hours is reported. The State Board's philosophy is based on recognizing that widely different demographic, economic, and geographic characteristics from community to community necessitate that state colleges be permitted autonomy and a variety of curricula. However, common objectives are articulated that would provide for the first two years of baccalaureate parallel or preprofessional courses, occupational programs leading to associate degrees or certificates, general education and continuing education, academic and occupational counseling, and cultural and community services programs.
