Aged Patients in Long-Term Care Facilities: A Staff Manual.
Goldfarb, Alvin I.
This document represents transcripts of a series of workshops presented for the staff of a long-term care facility for aged patients. A specialist in geriatric psychiatry leads the discussions, which cover topics such as the definition of brain syndrome; testing procedures; emotional and behavioral problems; and the optimal environment for the patient with brain syndrome. Nurses, social workers, therapists and other staff members participate in the discussions and provide specific case history material. The format allows suggestions based on the workshops to be implemented, and results discussed further at later meetings. Some theoretical material is presented, but the bulk of the manual contains concrete, practical information about the care of aged persons in institutions. (Author/BP)
