Teachers Handbook: A Handbook for a Pre-School Home Intervention Program.
Cadman, Lois A.; And Others
This handbook describes the organization and implementation of a home based program for handicapped preschool children. The handbook is designed for use by teachers working with parents and is based on an exemplary program called Project PEECH (Program for Early Education of Children with Handicaps). The program emphasizes the role of parents and paraprofessionals and focuses on the use of precision teaching and behavior modification techniques. The handbook discusses administrative procedures in the development of a home based program and describes suggested materials and schedules for the home teacher. Curriculum ideas are presented for five areas: physical skills, self-help skills, social skills, academic skills and communication skills. Appropriate age levels and lists of activities and materials are described. Appendices to the handbook include suggested forms and two case studies of children who had been enrolled in Project PEECH.
