This document is a coordinator's handbook written to accompany the Far West Laboratory for Educational Research and Development's "Minicourse 8: Organizing Independent Learning: Primary Level." The minicourse was designed to develop teacher skill in organizing the classroom for independent learning through joint teacher-pupil effort. The Coordinator's Handbook contains a summary of course content, a description of the minicourse package and other needed materials, a list of coordinator's duties (advance planning, meeting with administrators, faculty, and participants, organizing training sessions, setting up the microteach room, and the training process itself), and methods for conducting the minicourse. Appendices contain resource materials, questions and answers about the minicourse, teachers' daily schedule, time schedules for microteaching, tips for videotaping microteach lessons, suggestions for camera and microphone arrangements for microteaching, and checklists for operating and troubleshooting for the Sony and Ampex Videotape Recorders.
