This practitioner's manual for student personnel workers represents the composite thinking and mutual agreement of all those working in student services in the 27 community colleges in Washington state. It presents ideal philosophies, goals, objectives, functions, and staffing patterns for the administration of student services and for each of eight student service areas: (1) student information systems and services; (2) advising; (3) financial aid; (4) counseling; (5) programs/activities; (6) health services; (7) placement; and (8) special programs and populations. It also contains tables indicating the recommended allocations of space for administration and student services and for student facilities such as student government, dining and lounge areas, and meeting rooms, a list of the general qualifications for student personnel workers, and staffing formulas for each area.
