This report is a general overview of year-round education. It is intended to provide the reader with an objective introduction to the variety of scheduling alternatives currently in practice. Both the positive and negative aspects of year-round education, as viewed by the individuals directly involved (students, teachers, parents, and school administrators), are summarized. The preparation, implementation, and operational stages of year-round education programs are emphasized, and the reported effects of year-round education on students are discussed.
