This book presents simple activities for teaching language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, art, and music through movement. It is geared for the classroom teacher (K-6) who has little or no experience in movement education. The movement experiences are designed to be presented to children through specific problems--correlated to academic concepts--that they solve by using their bodies in a variety of ways. Competitive games are not stressed. An introduction explains the what, why, how, when, and where of movement activities to teachers along with suggestions for designing additional activities. Photographs illustrate the text. A listing of books, reference materials, films, and recordings is included. (MM)
