This study guide is written to assist the candidate preparing to take New York State College Proficiency and Regents External Degree Examinations. This booklet offers some suggestions on how to successfully complete an independent study project, learning to do many of those tasks normally performed by a teacher. It is divided into the following sections: (1) preparing for independent study, (2) study methods, (3) recognizing and correcting study problems, (4) resources and further assistance, (5) reviewing and self-testing, and (6) the examination.
