This module is the first in a two-module cluster. Together, the modules are designed to enable students to recognize and identify by type the errors that occur in recorded samples of oral reading. This one--Module A--focuses on the most common phonemic and morphemic elements of English. In preparation for the analysis of errors, students learn to analyze words in isolation, the sounds various spellings represent and where they occur in words, how words are divided into syllables, where accents fall, and the syntactic function or meaning of various units of speech.
