THis annotated bibliography is designed to help students beginning educational research at Pattee Library of Pennsylvania State University Libraries. Grouped in sections A through H in the body of the guide by the type of information they contain, items listed include: bibliographies, guides to theses and dissertations; indexes and abstracts; encyclopedias, dictionaries, and handbooks; yearbooks; biographical sources; directories; and school law. A brief discussion of the items begins each section. How these tools fit into research is outlined in Appendix 1 which gives a sample search for research materials on educational vouchers. Appendix 2 discusses locating periodical articles and the procedure to follow to find these items in the library. Appendix 3 discusses the use of the card catalog. Appendix 4 deals with the Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) and touches on computer searching using the ERIC data base. Appendix 5 lists sources helpful in locating materials for classroom instruction. (CH)
