General advice is offered about measures to take before closing underutilized school buildings. If the building has potential value to the school district, tenant, buyer, or other public agency, specific measures are necessary to protect the building. On the other hand, depending on the size, zoning, location, and age, the building may have no future value to the school district or to any other potential owner.
