This booklet is a comprehensive report and resource manual on parent-run cooperative playgroups based on 2 years of experience by the Childcare Switchboard in San Francisco, which refers parents to playgroups, family day care homes, and child care centers in the city and offers advice and help to fledgling playgroups. Practical advice is given on the following topics: playgroup size, age range, location, equipment, finances, teachers, daily routine, medical information, and work schedule. Short descriptive reports on the beginnings and progress of four playgroups are given as examples.
