You: Who...Where...When: Life Roles, Settings and Events. Developmental Level 4-6.
Fitzgerald, Suzanne
The teaching module is organized to provide students on the 4-6 grade level with knowledge, skill, and understanding of life roles, settings, and events. Using role-playing and a questionnaire, the five activities in the first of three learning sequences revolve around the awareness of the difference between roles and work, leisure and maintenance activities. The five activities in sequence 2 concentrate on aiding the students to investigate, alter, and create environments according to their individual needs and values and to become aware of environment maintenance and energy control through value clarification, group work, and independent research. Sequence 3 exposes the students to change and its effects. The four activities involve writing a diary, role-playing, interviewing, and planning work. Resource materials are suggested. All learning sequences are introduced by objectives, an overview, and learner activities. Each activity is organized under the headings of class grouping, concept and vocabulary, learner prerequisites, educator's preparation tasks, materials/resources, skills, process, and adaptations, and contains detailed suggestions for the teacher's use.
