This document was prepared to provide a comprehensive view of the programs in biomedical engineering in existence in 1969. These programs are supported by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences and are located at 18 universities. This compendium provides information as to the intent and content of these programs from data provided by the respective training program directors. Each program description includes a description of the training program, entrance requirements, the research training staff, research equipment and facilities, departmental graduate body and sources of additional information.
