This guide is designed to outline the ideal experience for both sponsored and nonsponsored foreign students in U. S. academic institutions and communities. The guide is both schematic and narrative in order to guide the experience of foreign student and the sequence of related events under ideal conditions. Ten stages of events include planning and selection; preadmission; admission; notification; postadmission and prearrival; arrival and preenrollment; enrollment and first term; sojourn; predeparture and reentry; and followup, evaluation, and continuing education.
