Ride with Pride: Wipe Out Graffiti and Vandalism on Our Trains and Buses.
Dews, Peter; And Others
This publication presents a curriculum designed to educate New York City students about the importance of public transportation and to promote an awareness of the public's responsibility to respect and maintain New York City's transit system. The curriculum, designed by the New York City Transit Authority in cooperation with the New York City Board of Education, is geared toward fifth and sixth graders. The lesson plan is divided into the following two parts: (1) lessons and activities; and (2) resources. Each lesson addresses one of three major areas of concern: graffiti, vandalism, and behavior on trains and buses. The lessons contain teacher strategies and student activities, plus activity sheets, which may be used in conjunction with the lesson, independent of it, or as a follow-up to it. The resources section of the curriculum contains information on transit exhibits, community programs, careers, speakers, etc. (PS)
