Teacher, I Don't Feel Well: Meeting Children's Health Needs.

Designed to be presented in a workshop format, by trainers, to an audience of caregivers of young children, these materials provide two modules for workshop presentations in the areas of first aid and common childhood illnesses as well as an example of a model health policy. The materials for the workshop on common childhood illness discusses in two sessions common childhood diseases, respiratory diseases, and common health problems. The materials on first aid consist of an overview of the subject plus guides for treating specific major and minor injuries. The prevention-oriented model health policy covers immunization schedules, record keeping, illness policy, emergency management, medication administration policy, discipline policy, nutrition policy, meal preparation and serving policy, outside play policy, dental health policy and provides similar information in several other areas of concern. Appendices A through L provide model health forms for child care centers. These instructional materials are thought to be appropriate for self-instruction, child development associate training, or courses at the high school, junior college or university level. (Author/RH)
