This manual on air conditioning is one of a series of power mechanics texts and visual aids covering theory of operation, diagnosis, and repair. Information is presented for use by vocational students and teachers as well as shop servicemen and laymen. Focus is on air conditioning systems for mobile machines, but most of the information also applies to automotive systems. Eight chapters included in the manual are designed to train readers so that they can understand and service air conditioning systems with speed and skill. Chapter titles include (1) Basics of Air Conditioning; (2) Refrigerants and Oil; (3) Basic System: How It Works; (4) Service Equipment; (5) Inspecting the System; (6) Diagnosing the System; (7) Testing and Adjusting the System; and (8) Preparing System for Service. Many illustrations are included and each chapter concludes with test-yourself questions. A glossary and the answers to the test questions are appended.
