Puppet Productions in the Schools.
Greer, Martin L.
Based on experience gained from helping secondary students produce numerous puppet shows for children, this paper provides a step-by-step guide to the production of puppet plays by secondary students. Following sections that tell about puppeteering and about different kinds of puppets, separate sections of the paper offer suggestions in the following areas: forming a basic concept of what a puppet production should be; writing a puppet play script; staging a puppet play; designing a puppet; making puppets from such materials as papier-mache, plastic wood, wood, clay, liquid rubber, cloth, and fake fur, and stringing marionettes; organizing a puppet production; and overcoming problems in putting on the production. The paper concludes with lists of objectives and review questions for each section. Several illustrations are included to demonstrate steps in making puppets. (GT)
