Following an introductory survey of the course, this modular drug abuse trainer's manual contains all course-specified materials. These materials are: the course goals and objectives; time/activity sheets; trainer guidelines, process notes, and exercise instructions; detailed lectures and supplementary information. The time/activity sheets contain the training schedule with time allocations, training tasks with the materials and equipment needed, training activities that specify expected trainer and trainee behaviors, and logistical details. Actual course topic areas are: historical evolution of drug use; types of drugs; drug effects; alcohol and marihuana; social and legal responses to drug use; treatment efforts; drug myths; drug dependence; the evolution of polydrug abuse; and the roles of families, schools, communities and peer groups related to drug abuse prevention.
