Induction of New Teachers: An Annotated Bibliography.

This annotated bibliography on beginning teacher induction is divided into three major sections. The first area dealt with is the need for induction programs. This section includes topics on the problems of beginning teachers and what assistance can be offered. The second section focuses on designing induction programs and discusses program components, program implementation, and program evaluation. The third section on the results of implementation deals with the research findings on results from induction programs that have been tried. A variety of studies are available on induction programs as they relate to the school setting. For the purpose of this study, research related to both elementary and secondary beginning teachers was used. (JD)
