Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: A Step toward Individualized Treatment Planning.
Brancaleone, Louis
The paper reviews research studies on identification and treatment of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Studies investigating the three primary ADHD dimensions of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsiveness are initially cited, followed by a review of research in the related dimensions of cognitive attributions/locus of control, home environment, social behavior/aggression, and academic achievement. It is concluded that the complexity of the ADHD syndrome necessitates a complex, multimodal assessment and a comprehensive, individualized treatment package. A list of 74 references is appended. (JW)
