The Undergraduate Grade Point Average as a Predictor of the Graduate Index of Students in the Leadership-Administration Emphasis in the Master of Arts in Education Program at Castleton State College
Forest, Robert F.
The purpose of the study was to compare the undergraduate grade point average with the graduate index to ascertain whether the former could be used as a predictor of graduate success for students in the Leadership-Administration Emphasis, with an eye to using it in the graduate admissions process. Data on the 60 students enrolled in the program during 1972-78 was collected and a statistical analysis done. The Pearson product-moment correlation was done and the result compared with a scatter diagram. The level of significance used for the two-tailed test was .05. Results indicated that there was no significant correlation between grade point average in undergraduate work and success in the graduate program. (Author/MSE)
