Directed Field Experience for Psychology Classes at Oxnard College: An Exploratory Implementation Plan.
Hawkins, William R.
In order to develop a plan to furnish students with field experience within Oxnard College's psychology curriculum, this study reviewed existing programs at other area colleges through a literature review and interviews with field experience directors, examined the Oxnard curriculum and developed a plan for a directed field experience program within existing course offerings. The project aimed at establishing administrative and operational procedures for the proposed program and projected program costs. Study results indicated it would be possible to integrate the field experience plan within the existing psychology program without major cost increases. The proposed plan would utilize a dual-track integrated course structure with a field experience and an instruction track integrating student experiences with course content. In addition, the plan would involve minimal clerical support and would not disrupt or require additional scheduling or facility use. A bibliography is included. Appendices cover the field experience interview form, Oxnard course offerings in psychology, and course utilization proposals. (Author/TR)
