This practicum was formulated because of the consistent pressure from parents and teachers of the existing three year-round schools in the Cherry Creek School District, Englewood, Colorado to consider expanding year-round education to the middle school. As a result of two previous studies that were completed at the time of the formulation of the proposal, the author was able to capitalize upon the work of these committees and expand his involvement into the survey of the parents and finally the implementation of the alternative year-round program; thus setting up a dual calendar operation at Laredo Middle School.
