This issue of College Canada looks at the challenges confronting Canada's rural community colleges. Anchoring the Community College in Cyber Space," by Michael Hall, which examines the development of community colleges in rural communities as technology advances and intersects with community college values and objectives; (2) "The National Task Force on Rural and Remote Colleges," by Brent Mills, which looks at the National Task Force, its mission and goals, and a symposium; (3) "College of the North Atlantic Going the Distance in Newfoundland and Labrador," by Pamela Walsh, which explores the community colleges in this region of Canada and the challenges that lie ahead; (4) "The Canadian Rural Partnership," by Lynden Johnson, which examines the Canadian national government's efforts to work with rural Canadian communities in meeting the needs of colleges; (5) "Certain Issues Faced by Regional Colleges in Quebec," by Gilles Bacon, which further studies the challenges for rural community colleges in Canada; (6) "A Rural College in Saskatchewan," by Fay Myers, which analyzes a case study of Parkland Regional College in order to highlight some concerns for rural community colleges; and (7) "The British Columbia Small Colleges Report (1997) Revisited--A Perspective on Small Colleges," by Terry Weninger, which discusses the 1997 report for Canada's small and rural community colleges in light of current events.
