Rehabilitation counselors must stay apprised of numerous issues in their field. To help them remain current, this volume features 12 lessons which can count as continuing education credits. Lesson 1 explores issues surrounding Latino clients, focusing on cultural considerations, ethnic identity, and the counselor-client relationship. Sexuality issues in clients with physical disabilities are discussed in lesson 2, with a focus on developmental issues and psychological considerations. Counseling women in mid-life, which features an integrative approach to menopause, and ways to utilize community resources in rehabilitative counseling are covered in lessons 3 and 4. Lesson 5 provides counseling strategies when working with Native Americans, whereas lesson 6 explores ways to provide vocational services to clients in substance abuse rehabilitation. The treatment of comorbid posttraumatic stress disorder and substance abuse is addressed in lesson 7 and lesson 8 features tips on program evaluation and assessment of outcomes. Lesson 9 describes issues surrounding mood disorders following traumatic brain injury and lesson 10 discusses interventions and rehabilitation counseling for autistic clients and their families.
