HIV/AIDS Education: The Challenge of Reducing High-Risk Behaviors.
Lumsden, Linda S.
OSSC Bulletin, v34 n3 Nov 1990
Challenges inherent in providing AIDS/HIV education programs to reduce student involvement in behaviors that place them at risk are examined in this bulletin. Chapter 1 highlights some of the limitations of many existing programs and offers strategies for strengthening educational efforts. Chapter 2 explores some of the factors that affect whether students' knowledge of AIDS/HIV will have an impact on their attitudes and behaviors. Finally, some general guidelines are offered in chapter 3 to help educators determine what kind of information students may be ready to cope with at various ages. Two statistical tables and a bibliography listing 51 references are included. (LMI)
