Abuse: You Don't Have To Live That Way.
Step by Step, v1 n1 Spr 1990
This issue, containing a special report on abuse, contains stories by sexually abused youth and an abusing parent. The stories emphasize the difficulty children have being believed when they finally decide to share their problems; the difficulties they have getting help; and the fact that, even if the abuse is stopped, there are no simple, happy endings. Interspersed among the true stories are suggestions for getting help when one is in an abusive situation, both from West Virginia agencies and from national hotlines. Books about abuse are suggested. Also included is a report on teen input into a bill on predispositional diagnostic groups, which will affect the placement of every child who becomes part of the West Virginia welfare system. Youth participants sponsored an amendment to make child and parent participation in the child placement team mandatory. (DHP)
