Curriculum. Planning for Lutheran Elementary Schools. E07.
Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, St. Louis, MO.
Part of a 13-volume series designed to help Lutheran communities assess the feasibility of starting a Lutheran elementary school and to assist ongoing schools in current operation, this volume focuses on curriculum development. It is divided into four parts. The first part deals with the curriculum study committee, its organization and scope of work. Part 2 lists steps to be followed in developing the Lutheran elementary school curriculum. These steps include describing the distinctiveness, the children, and the purpose of the school; identifying subject matter, extracurricular activities, and Christian education experiences provided by the school; and preparing position statements on school issues. Part 3 describes what the principal and faculty must do to implement the curriculum committee's findings. Curriculum evaluation is dealt with in part 4, including whom to involve in evaluation, the schedule and procedures for evaluation, and suggestions for an assessment questionnaire. (JM)
