Neglected and Delinquent Youth: Demographic Findings. Treatment of Delinquency Series, Chapter 1.
Sabatino, David A.
The first of a 10-part series, this report was compiled by the Educational Development Center at Wilkes College. The series deals with various aspects of the treatment of delinquents and is intended as a summary of research findings in each of the areas treated. Each report was prepared by a scholar-practitioner and is presented in a way that will be of value to professionals who deal both directly and indirectly with the treatment of delinquent youth. The report is, in fact, one manuscript of 627 pages; however, to make it more easily used, it is published in 10 separate parts. A detailed table of contents of the entire series is presented at the end of each part. This part examines some characteristics of neglected and delinquent youth; types of social and emotional maladjustment; the role of the family; and various types of counseling and other forms of treatment.
