This Critical Practitioner Inquiry (CPI) Newsletter is a forum for exchanging ideas and experiences about CPI in different universities worldwide. This first edition of the newsletter contains the following articles: (1) Critical Practitioner Inquiry--Working Against the Grain (Lars Dahlstrom), which explains the concept of CPI; (2) Critical Issues in Practitioner/Action Research (Temechegn Engida), which discusses practitioner/action research carried out by teachers based on the theories and practices of teaching they have been using; and (3) Growing Up Critical Practitioner (Kedir Assefa), in which the author discusses his experiences studying CPI at Alemaya University. A section on news in brief concludes the newsletter. (Contains 5 footnotes.)
