This volume contains abstracts of the presentations on the freshman and entering student programs at over 100 colleges, community colleges, and universities in the United States and Canada. Each abstract describes institutional programs and provides a name, address, and telephone number of the person to contact for additional information. Among the many topics discussed are the following: support for freshman seminar faculty; assessing student needs; entering student program design and assessment; student mentors; student retention; addressing and educating students on social issues such as sexual life, racism, and homosexuality; community building and conflict resolution; diversity and multiculturalism on campus and in the classroom; various types of staff development and exploration of teaching techniques; and freshman guidance and advising.
