Upper Tanudan Kalinga Texts. Studies in Philippine Linguistics: Supplementary Series. Philippine Texts, No. 1.
Otarres, Fe T., Ed.; And Others
A collection of texts in Upper Tanudan Kalinga, a language spoken by about 3,000 people in three villages in the Philippines, includes texts recorded and transcribed from native speakers, edited for clarity and style, and checked for accuracy of cultural content. Four types of discourse-genre are represented: narrative-fiction and narrative-factual, procedural, expository, and hortatory. The texts are representative of the dialect spoken by the people of Lubo who call their dialect" Linurubu." Cultural notes and English translations are provided. The main cultural themes of the texts include leadership, marriage and responsibilities toward children, traditional values for living honorably, and the tension between old and new Kalinga values.
