The American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities' (AAIDD's) Positive Behavior Support Training Curriculum," Second Edition" ("PBSTC"), is a curriculum for training direct support personnel and their supervisors in the values and practices of Positive Behavior Support. The curriculum is designed for direct support persons and supervisors working in any setting providing supports and services for people with developmental and related disabilities. Section I shows how to use this curriculum, introduces the training process, and provides a trainer's curriculum and a Master Skills Checklist. Section II contains 25 training modules total, nine of which are designed for supervisors only. Each module addresses a key set of skills in positive behavior support, and the supervisors modules trains supervisors to be effective managers. Each module consists of a Module Summary Sheet, Presentation Outline, Activity Sheets for trainee use during training, and Skills Checks to use to ensure trainees demonstrate skill mastery of the training content. The 25 training modules are: (1) Dignity and Behavior Support; (2) Defining Behavior; (3) Positive Reinforcement and Punishment;; (4) Negative Reinforcement; (5) Identification of Antecedents, Behaviors, and Consequences.; (6) Teaching Functional Skills; (7) Role of the Environment; (8) The Role of Choice; (9) Interactions; (10) Prompting; (11) Error Correction; (12) Chaining; (13) Program Implementation; (14) Problem Solving; (15) Functional Assessment; (16) Data Collection; (17) Data Analysis; (18) Scatter Plot Data Analysis; (19) Feedback; (20) Performance Checklists; (21) Staff Observation; (22) Modeling and Training; (23) Problem Solving II; (24) Evaluating a Written Behavior Support Plan; and (25) Performance Analysis. Section III contains Skills Checks Trainer Instructions and Forms for On-the-Job Demonstrations.
