Brown, Audrey K., Ed.; Showacre, Jane, Ed.
This book contains 16 papers from the 1974 conference held by the Pregnancy and Infancy Branch of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development to: (1) assess the photobiological processes involved in phototherapy used in treatment of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia, and (2) to document long term clinical experience with the treatment in all parts of the world. The conference focused on long term implications regarding the safety of the treatment. Papers fall under one of three headings: Long Term Clinical Experience; Pathobiology: Basic and Clinical Considerations; and Physical Science Approaches to Problems of Phototherapy. Also included are the transcripts of conference discussions on various related topics. (SB)
