Challenges in Science.
Staples, Greg; And Others
This publication is a collection of science activities designed to enrich elementary or junior high science curricula. These activities encourage students to investigate facets of life sciences, physical sciences, and earth sciences either with a teacher or independently. The 70 activities have been classified into 10 subareas under these three broad areas of science. Activities are of two basic types: constructing something, or investigating a topic and interacting with materials and resources about it. While activities were designed for independent work, many of them could be adapted to small or class-sized groups. Some activities could well be adapted to high school. The following list of selected activity titles is included: Insect Architecture; Plants Without Soil; Man: His/Her Own Worst Enemy; Hand-Me-Down Genes; Keeping your Balance; Here Comes the Sun; The "O" Zone; It's In the Stars; Living in Space; and Building a Robot that Learns.
