The Mink Scale.
Barker, Lawrence W.; Mink, Oscar G.
This scale is designed to aid in identifying dropout prone students. The instrument is a useful aid to professional judgment and may be used with upper elementary or junior high school students. The scale items are grouped in four sections: academic ability and performance, negative identification with education, family and socio-economic status, and personal. The scale is completed by school officials who are, preferably, well acquainted with the student. School records, personal knowledge of the student, and information from other informed observers may be used when completing the scale. A description of a pilot study with the instrument appears in TM 000 125. The scoring procedure for the scale is not included. (LR)
