Social Health: A New Model for Wrap-Around School Services. Promising Practices from Washington State
Georgia Heyward
Grantee Submission
Schools have long partnered with local organizations to support access to essential services like food, housing, or mental and physical health. Schools can build on wrap-around school models by helping students and families intentionally cultivate community relationships, skills, and knowledge, thus putting students on a path toward long-term success. This study looks at the implementation of a social health model, a wrap-around services model that includes intentional cultivation of skills, knowledges, and community relationships. This study presents existing literature on wrap-around service models and offers step-by-step guidance for implementation based on literature and the experience of the case study school.
