This is the 24th annual report of tuition and fee rates at public institutions in the 50 states. All data contained in the report were compiled using Washington State Higher Education Coordinating Board surveys of state agencies and/or individual institutions. Eight tables display historical and current academic year tuition and/or required fee rates for full-time resident and nonresident undergraduate and graduate students at public four-year colleges and universities, and two tables present state averages for community colleges in each state. Appendices, comprising over half the report, discuss the national peer groups used as bench marks in the development of higher education funding policies and provides tables comparing tuition and fee rates at the University of Washington and Washington State University to the average of those at peer institutions. The appendices also include data on full-time tuition and fee charges for the first professional degree programs of medicine, dentistry, and veterinary medicine; national peer group comparison data for Evergreen State College; and an overview of Washington tuition and fee policies and legislation since 1977.
