This instructional task/competency package is designed to be used in combination with the "Industrial Arts Guide to CBE Implementation" in order to implement competency-based education (CBE) in the metals technology program in Virginia. The task/competency package contains suggested task sequence lists, content outlines, and task/competency information for the specific courses Metals Technology I and II. Part 1 of this publication contains a description of the industrial arts program and course descriptions, instructional task/competency lists, and content outlines for Metals Technology I and II. The task/competency lists include the minimum tasks/competencies identified for inclusion in the courses, listed in a suggested order of instruction. The content outlines correspond with the task/competency lists in content and sequencing. Part 2 contains information for instruction in each of the tasks/competencies in part 1. The following information is provided for each task/competency: appropriate program and course designation, performance and enabling objectives, a criterion-referenced measure, and suggested activities. A bibliography and list of audiovisual aids complete the document. (KC)
