Making the Most of Technology to Explore Nature
Lewis-Neill, Steven
Primary Science, n161 p24-26 Feb 2020
This article outlines how mobile technology can support teaching and learning in and outdoors. Thanks to the actual physical movement afforded by being free from wires and a desktop, children can take their learning anywhere. More impressively, online collaborations can link schools and children globally. Using mobile devices as a tool to record sounds, videos, images, and data is perfect for science work. Although using electronic devices, the aim is not to engage young children with computers but rather with nature and, counter-intuitively, the tablet certainly has a role.
