This guide to language courses in polytechics and similar institutions in England is designed to help the student plan his language course in higher education. A suggested way of using the information in the guide is to plan the course with the aid of a flow-chart and then to find out from the index which polytechnics and colleges are offering this type of course. For each institution the following information is presented: (1) course title, degree level, course type, and duration; (2) course structure and options available (all relevant subjects); (3) language, level, start level, weekly hours, duration and finishing level; (4) entry requirements; (5) study or work abroad, course length and type, and supervision arrangements; and (6) aim and content of language components, special vocational arrangements, and typical careers entered by successful students.
