Friendship Fence
Johnson, Ann
SchoolArts: The Art Education Magazine for Teachers, v106 n6 p27 Feb 2007
A friendship fence is a wonderful alternative to the standard mural. It provides a fantastic opportunity for children to help design a creative learning environment. In this article, the author describes an art project that involves creating a friendship fence. The author relates that she began introducing her students to Ndebele beadwork dolls and house paintings, so that they could begin to understand their artistic structure and craft. These house paintings, dolls, and other beadwork are created by the Zulu-Ndebele tribe of southern Africa. (Contains 1 resource and 2 online resources.)
