Texas Education Agency Annual Report, 2020
Texas Education Agency
By 2030, most jobs will require some training beyond high school (a four-year degree, a two-year associate degree, or some type of industry credential). Too few Texas students are currently obtaining the necessary postsecondary credentials. In response to this challenge, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board established the 60x30TX Plan in 2015. Texas Education Agency's (TEA's) aligned strategic plan is intended to improve the quality of education offered to all K-12 students to help the state meet its 60x30 goals. To support efforts that meet 60x30TX goals, this annual report focuses on TEA's strategic priorities: (1) recruit, support and retain teachers and principals; (2) build a foundation of reading and math; (3) connect high school to career and college; and (4) improve low-performing schools. The annual report also includes information on special education, school finance, the COVID-19 response, and a national comparison of how Texas stacks up to other states in math and reading. [For the 2019 report, see ED604764.]
