Ten Austin Independent School District (AISD) elementary campuses implemented one-way and two-way dual language pilot programs in the 2010-2011 year. This report includes summaries of parent and staff's perception of its implementation, as well as students' levels of advancement in second language proficiency.

This 2008-2009 school year program in AISD uses a train-the-trainer model in which Spanish-speaking mothers participate in a 6-week course about teaching early literacy skills and preparing their children for school. Sixty-nine of 107 mothers completed the program in 2008-2009. Students of mothers who completed the program showed academic gains.

Quality Teaching for English Learners (QTEL) aimed to improve teacher practice and improve student outcomes at Lanier and International High Schools in AISD. Overall, QTEL was moderately effective based on the myriad of mixed program results.
