Tennessee State Plan for Community Service and Community Education Programs; Fiscal Year 1975 Annual Program Amendment. Program IMPACT.
Tennessee Univ., Knoxville. State Agency for Title I.
The demonstration research project initiated in 1966 sought to identify community needs through interviews with local citizens and county and municipal officials, and through distribution of 800 mailed questionnaires. Following a review of the project's accomplishments to date, the document presents a report of the 1975-77 Statewide priorities focusing on two basic areas: community planning, growth, and leadership; and consumer education. The operating philosophy and objectives of the statewide program are discussed and possible types of activities listed. In the area of community plannning, growth, and leadership, two program thrusts will be emphasized: (1) encouraging selected institutions of higher education to become involved in community service programing, and (2) the development of Statewide programing in the broad area of community development. In the area of consumer education, efforts begun in 1972 will be built on. The paper concludes with a discussion of future plans and a budget proposal. (MW)
